The Epiphone AJ-220SCE has a really nice sound and comes at a very reasonable price. Epiphone make really great quality guitars and this model is no different. The sunburst finish is beautiful, giving the guitar a great look and the cutaway makes it so much easier to reach those high notes. There is also a built-in preamp, so you do not have to worry about mic-ing up the guitar when you get to your gig - you can just plug in and play. The built in tuner is another nice addition. The thin neck means that you do not have to stretch as much to play your chords. Soundwise, it is great - the bass tones are rich and deep and the high tones have a lovely bright sound. The frets are smooth, with no sharp edges and it is easy to slide up and down the neck. Both the acoustic sound and the plugged-in sound are great and the guitar will work well for both beginners and seasoned players. Of course it is not a Martin or Taylor but at this price you are getting a bargain and you will not be disappointed with the sound.

The Ibanez Performance Series PF15 Cutaway Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar has the great sound that you would expect to get from an Ibanez guitar. The guitar plays with beautiful tones and the action on it is maybe a little high but it is still very easy to play this guitar. The guitar is semi-acoustic so you can plug it into your amp and not have to worry about positioning microphones near it when you are playing live. You may need to mess around with the settings on your amp to get the best sound as there is a natural reverb sound when you plug it in. The price tag is very affordable and the finish is just beautiful - the blue burst looks just great. The cutaway makes it easier to reach the higher frets and the guitar has a really nice feel to it. The Fender CD-60S All Mahogany Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is a great guitar with beautiful mellow tones and the natural finish looks great. The guitar has great action and does not need any adjusting when you get it. This makes it really easy to play. With such a low price tag, the guitar is suitable for beginners, but even seasoned players should have no complaints with this guitar. The tuning pegs are a little bit sensitive, but the guitar holds tune very well when it is tuned. The neck is solid, and most importantly the sound is great as you would expect from a Fender guitar. There are bass as well as good treble sounds from it. The dreadnaught body style is very comfortable to play either sitting down or with a strap standing up. There is only one strap peg, which is quite common, so you will have to tie the other end of the strap around the head of the guitar. For a low price you are getting a top quality guitar with great sound and great playability.

Beautiful look with the natural finish

Review

The Fender CD-60SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a Dreadnaught body style has the great sound you would expect from a Fender guitar, at a very reasonable price. The guitar is a semi acoustic so you do not need to mic it up when you go to play your gig - just plug it directly into your amp. There is a very effective preamp which can well handle producing nice tonal quality when plugged in and it has a three-band EQ. The guitar has a beautiful black finish and the cutaway body makes the upper frets very easy to reach. Purists may say that this can affect the acoustic sound, but the access to the upper frets more than makes up for this. The action is very good which is great if you want to do some shredding on your axe! The guitar has very nice tones and it is very well put together. The built-in tuner is a useful addition and the tuning pegs are nice and tight helping the guitar to hold tune quite well. This is a very good guitar for beginners too as it is cheap, has great action and very forgiving tones. The trade-off for the cheap price tag is probably the amount of laminate used on the guitar but it still looks and plays great.

The Best 7 Pros & Cons

Pros

Great tones
Nice action
Low Price
Cutaway body makes upper frets easy to access

Cons

Lots of laminate
The Fishman Isys III is probably not their best preamp but it still handles the tones very well
Purists may say the cutaway affects the acoustic sound
You might need to change the strings it comes with to suit your style

5. Taylor BT1-2012

Description

Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar Natural. Conceived as a starter guitar for kids, the lovable Baby Taylor has maintained its enduring appeal in part by being a legitimate musical instrument that anyone can enjoy. The three-quarter-size Dreadnought helped touring musicians like Taylor Swift sketch new musical ideas on the road, and it's been a reliable musical accomplice for travelers seeking inspiration while trekking the world. All Baby Taylor models ship with a durable travel-worthy gig bag made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection. Tone Woods A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka Spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. The arched back of the guitar generates more sound from a small-bodied instrument, and using layered wood back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability. What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

The Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar is a great guitar to take traveling or for small kids to play. This particular guitar is three quarter size. Although the guitar is small, it is very nice to play and still has a very nice sound. The action is nice and low - almost like that of an electric guitar, and it holds tuning very well. The guitar feels solid and you can feel the quality that you would expect from a Taylor guitar. It has a solid spruce top which is probably what gives it that increased quality in sound. The size of the guitar makes it very easy to pick up and do not be surprised if you find yourself sitting on the couch and twiddling away on it all the time. The case that the guitar comes in is a soft case, but it is very well padded to protect your guitar when you are on the road. All in all this is a very good quality mini-guitar and should complement your full-size guitar collection nicely.

The Best 7 Pros & Cons

Pros

Easy to carry if traveling
Low action
Holds tuning well
- Great sound for a small-scale guitar

Cons

Doesn’t quite match the tones of a full-size guitar
Frets are a bit smaller because of the scaled size
There is less string tension than a full-size guitar which takes a bit of getting used to
- Not as loud as a full-size guitar

6. Martin Ed Sheeran 3 Divide / Signature Edition

Ed Sheeran 3 Divide Signature Edition Little Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural. From budding YouTube discovery to international pop sensation, Ed Sheeran is one of the most recognizable male artists in the music industry. Immediately recognizable with his freewheeling red bedhead, you'll also rarely ever see him without a guitar in his hands, most notably his Martin Guitar Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition (with its X art to reflect his second album) or his Martin X Series LX1E Little Martin (with a + symbol on it as an ode to his first release). After a year-long creative hiatus, the multiple Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter came back with a vengeance in 2017 with his third album, Divide, which topped the charts in 14 countries, including his first home, the UK, and his new home, the United States. Review

The Martin Ed Sheeran 3 Divide / Signature Edition Little Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a lovely little guitar from Martin that is the perfect size for taking on your travels, or for smaller children to play. The sound is surprisingly deep for a three quarter size guitar. Ed Sheeran sometimes uses the small guitar to great effect in his shows and you can get a very full sound out of this little guitar. It is never going to be as full a sound as a regular guitar, but your small sized guitar is not supposed to be a replacement so much as a complement to your regular guitar. There is a built-in preamp so if you need to increase your volume you can just plug the guitar directly into an amp and off you go. The case that the guitar comes in is very sturdy and will protect your guitar when you are on the go. It is also a good size to fit in the overheard compartments on planes. Overall a good quality guitar, suitable for traveling and with a very impressive sound.

The Best 7 Pros & Cons

Pros

Deep sound for a small scale guitar
Nice action
Holds tuning well
- Easy to carry for traveling

Cons

As a small guitar it does not have the same resonance as a regular guitar
Fret sizes are smaller than you may be used to from a full-size guitar
Uses high pressure laminate on the back and sides
Strings don’t have the same tension as regular sized guitars which takes getting used to

The Epiphone DR-100 is a very nice acoustic guitar that is very suitable for beginners learning to play. It is hard to beat the price of this guitar and you will get good value for your money. The action is nice and low and the tones are pretty clear. This makes it easy to play and particularly good for beginners.
